    SIG - kick off meeting

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are where the real collaboration happens within RPS — small, focused communities of members working together to advance best practices, tackle industry challenges, and share knowledge in specific areas of Randomization and Trial Supply Management (RTSM).

In this open discussion, we’ll explore:

    • A preliminary list of SIGs RPS is considering launching

    • Member feedback and suggestions for new or alternative SIGs

    • How we’ll prioritize and launch a few to start

    • Expectations for SIG participation and output

    • The governance model and key roles for each SIG

    • How you can get involved or lead a SIG

Your input will help ensure the SIG program reflects the needs and interests of our global RTSM community.

Whether you’re passionate about standards, technology, site experience, data integration, or something new entirely — this is your chance to shape how RPS collaborates and grows.

    Who Should Attend:

All RPS members — especially those who want to contribute, lead, or connect with peers around shared professional interests.

This is a members only event

    Date & Time:

    12-Nov-2025, 4pm US Eastern
Virtual via Zoom / Teams (link will be shared with registrants)

    Host:

Barry Moore, President, RTSM Professional Society (RPS)

    Call to Action:

Register now to help shape the foundation of RPS SIGs.
Your voice will guide where we focus next — and how our community collaborates to move RTSM forward.

    Event Description:

Join us for a focused discussion on the role of GS1 standards within Randomization and Trial Supply Management (RTSM). This session will explore how global identification and data exchange standards are shaping the future of clinical trial supply interoperability.

We’ll take a deeper look at:

    • The key GS1 identifiers that matter most in clinical trials (GTIN, GLN, SSCC, and more)

    • The core EDI messages that enable seamless communication between RTSM, ERP, and packaging systems

    • How these standards are evolving to support serialization and digital label management

    • Real-world insights and feedback from industry stakeholders on current challenges and adoption levels

    • A forward view on what’s next for GS1 in the context of decentralized trials and end-to-end visibility

This is an advanced session — ideal for RTSM professionals, clinical supply chain leaders, and system architects already familiar with the fundamentals of GS1 standards who want to dive into practical applications and future directions.

RPS Presents: “Developing Competency in RTSM"

As clinical trials become increasingly complex and technology-driven, the ability to effectively use Randomization and Trial Supply Management (RTSM) systems—also known as Interactive Response Technology (IRT)—has become a critical competency for clinical research professionals. Yet, despite its central role in ensuring randomization integrity, drug accountability, and patient safety, RTSM remains one of the least understood domains within clinical operations and academic research training.

This presentation will explore the growing importance of RTSM competency across the clinical research ecosystem, from academic investigators and coordinators to sponsors and CROs. It will highlight how RTSM systems enable trial integrity, automate drug supply management, and support adaptive and decentralized trial designs. Emphasis will be placed on the skills gap that exists in academic settings, where RTSM principles are rarely included in clinical research curricula, and on strategies for closing that gap through education, mentorship, and cross-sector collaboration.

The RTSM Professional Society, the world’s first educational non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to advancing the RTSM discipline, will also be introduced. The Society provides a platform for connecting RTSM experts with those new to the field, fostering a global community focused on improving the understanding and utilization of RTSM technology. Through webinars, special interest groups, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the Society seeks to equip the next generation of clinical trial professionals with the tools and insights needed to design and execute more efficient, compliant, and patient-centered studies.
